My Top 5 Favorite Korean Movies
I watch some Korean movies with my cousin and here are my favorites. A little reminder, this is just my opinion and recommendation for those who want to watch Korean or Asian movies. So, for this entry, all of these movies are Korean. And the next entry will be Thai movies.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything. Description are from Wikipedia.
5. My Sassy Girl (엽기적인 그녀)
The film was extremely successful in South Korea and was the highest grossing Korean comedy of all time.[1] When My Sassy Girl was released throughout East Asia, it became a mega blockbuster hit in the entire region, from Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, as well as Southeast Asia and parts of South Asia, to the point where it was drawing comparisons to Titanic.[2]
The film tells the love story of a male engineering college student, Gyeon-woo, and "the Girl" (who is never named in the movie). Gyeon-woo just cannot seem to catch a romantic break.
"Fun and definitely a "romantic" theme movie."
4. 100 Days with Mr. Arrogant
After being dumped by her boyfriend just before their 100 day anniversary, Ha-Yeong (Ha Ji-won) meets a college guy named Hyung-Jun (Kim Jaewon) when she kicks a can that accidentally hits him in the face and causes him to scratch his Lexus. He demands she pay him $3000 on the spot. She escapes from him, leaving her wallet behind.
"Weird that it makes me cry even though it's a comedy movie."
3. 200 Pounds of Beauty (미녀는 괴로워)
Han-na is an overweight phone sex employee and a ghost singer for Ammy, a famous pop singer who actually lip syncs. Instead of being famous for her own amazing vocal talent, Han-na hides behind Ammy's performance stage and sings during Ammy's concerts, and records all of Ammy's songs.
"I watched this movie over 100 times. No joke."
2. My Little Bride (어린 신부)
Bo-eun (Moon Geun-young) is an ordinary 15-year-old high school girl who worries about grades and has a crush on her school's baseball team ace, Jung-woo. One day, Bo-eun's grandfather orders her to marry Sang-min (Kim Rae-won) because of a pact he made with Sang-min's grandfather during the Korean War.
"I'm not really agree to "age gap relationship" but this movie change my belief in the said issue."
1. Sunny (써니)
2011 South Korean film about a middle-aged woman who tries to fulfill her friend's dying wish of reuniting their group of high school friends. The film alternates between two timelines: the present day where the women are middle-aged, and the 1980s when they were in high school.
"I don't why some people don't talk about this film. It's everything."
Thank you for reading! I hope you find this helpful. I really prefer Korean movies, they're short but worth watching films.
